5/9/02 Thursday
Still rainy/misty/overcast. We took the bus and our laundry down to the wash and dry place and have clean clothes again. We're back on the bus stuck in a traffic circle for 20 minutes. It's like a snake biting its own tail. Twenty to twenty five busses. We've gotten to a stop that had to leave half the people waiting. We're all smashed in here like sardines.
We dropped off the laundry at the house and bussed back downtown, and bussed around a few different directions, finally walking across Porti Vecchio (seeing some Italian "Mounties" on the way) and stopping at the same place on via Guicciardini, Maioli, for lunch. Good food once again. You point to what you want and he writes the order. Then we sit and it's delivered. I had ham and cheese on a roll that they toasted, pizza slice and lemonade. Elaine had eggplant and cheese in pita bread-toasted, hot dog, and coke. Then I had a cream puff and a black berry tart. And chocolate ice cream for the final dessert. Then we went to the Boboli Gardens. Got some good pictures of Elaine in the flowers. Weren't as many flowers as Elaine expected. Elaine did find a man on a turtle [2380] she had to pose with. On the way back to the bridge we had some more gelato. Then I got the "Football is Life" T-shirt for Vince and Shawn's shirt. I wrote postcards on the Ponti Vecchio as the sun went down. Watched the bats come out at dusk catching insects. Pretty sunset. Home to bed.
